　　First, we can see the nine dragon screen. It was used for warding off evil spirits in the old days. It was made of 270 glazed tiles during the emperor qianlong’s reign. The nine dragons were designed in different color and posture. No matter where we start to court the nine dragons, the first, the fifth and the ninth one are in yellow, it represented the supreme power of the emperor. The entire screen was made of glazed tiles except one piece that was made of wood. That one is at the bottom of the third one from left. There is a story about this. After the whole construction was completed, the emperor would come here for inspection. Unfortunately, before the day the emperor came, one piece of it fell down on the ground and was broken. It was impossible to make a new one just over one night, so the artisan made a wooden piece to replace it. The next day, when the emperor came here, nothing wrong was found on the screen and the emperor was very pleased. But after that, no one came back to replace that wooden piece.

　　Now we are going visit the exhibition of treasure. As we all know, there were 2972 boxes of treasures were shipped to Taiwan before1949, there are still a lot of priceless treasures of the imperial family on display. Most of them are cultural relics. These treasures represent the highest artistic skill of Chinese handicrafts and the luxurious life of the imperial family. Here we can see the jade carving of dayu harnessing floods, the big jade jar of happiness and the big jade mountain of longevity and the ivory mat. The jade carving of dayu harnessing floods is a big jade carving. It is 2.24 meters high and weights about 5 tons. It was quarried from xinjiang and transported to Beijing, and then it was shipped to yangzhou for carving. After the carving was done it was shipped back to Beijing. The whole process took 10 years for mining, transporting and carving. It is the largest jade carving in china.

　　Now we are going to talk about the banquet of thousand aged people. The banquet of thousand aged people was held for four times in the qing dynasty. The first two times were held by emperor kangxi in changchunyuan and the palace of heavenly purity of the Forbidden City. The people attended the banquet were all above 65 years old. Emperor qianlong held the third and the fourth banquets. The last time was held in the hall of imperial supremacy, and it was the largest one. There were more than 3000 people above 60 attended the banquet.

　　There are a lot of wells in the Forbidden City, but the most famous one is zhenfei well. Zhenfei was a favorite concubine of emperor guangxu. Just because she supported emperor guangxu’s political views in the reform movement, empress dowager cixi persecuted her by putting her under house arrest in the Forbidden City. In 1900 the eight allied forces attacked Beijing, empress dowager cixi tried to induce zhenfei to jump down a well. When zhenfei resisted, empress dowager cix order 2 eunuchs to push her into the well. Zhenfei died at the age of 24, and her body was retrieved after empress dowager cix and emperor guangxu came back from xian. So it was called zhenfei well.
